Ever you check your high blood pressure? It might be high because and you don\'t know about it because of its unclear symptoms. Unfortunately its symptoms are not clear till you reach at the life threatening stage of this disease. That is why it is called silent killer. Actually blood pressure is the force pushed to the artery walls by the blood pumped through them. Its readings are such like 120/80, this is the normal reading of blood pressure the first figure shows the systolic pressure(pressure when heart contracts) and the other number is diastolic pressure(a pressure present between heartbeats).
What is high blood pressure?
Hypertension is defined when the resting pressure is consistently 140/90 or higher. Any reading that is consistently between 120/80 and 140/90 is classified as pre-hypertensive. Being in the pre-hypertensive or hypertension category increases your risk of cardiovascular disease, peripheral artery disease, aortic aneurysms, kidney failure and other life threatening health problems.
Often no symptoms of hypertension appear until a vital organ is threatened or damaged - that\'s why the disease is called the \"Silent Killer.\" Unless you monitor your pressure regularly, you can have hypertension for years without knowing it. In fact, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute states that nearly one-third of Americans with hypertension aren\'t even aware they have the disease.

According to the American Heart Association managing the hypertension is a lifelong procedure because there is not cure for high blood pressure. The fact is that if you control it in the pre hypertension stages then you can cure it, but it is difficult due to its unclear symptoms of high blood pressure.
